About Us
The summer is going by way too fast! I'm not sure what happened to July......... We have several special events going on during August and I hope to see you at one or more of them. Authors representing a variety of genres including historic fiction, children's book and poetry will bring diverse perspectives about their craft and will be interesting people to meet!
Another great event happening in Alexandria during August is the Festival of the Lakes Chamber Music Concert Series. The concerts are set for August, 7th, 11th, 13th and 15th at the Alexandria United Methodist Church, 2210 6th Avenue East. The first three at at 7:30 PM and the final concert begins at 7 PM on Sunday the 15th. All the performers are professional musicians, mostly from the ranks of the Minnesota Orchestra and the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra. We are treated to some fabulous music every year and it would be great to see a packed house for these concerts. I don't know of any other community in Minnesota with a similar event and we know we are the envy of many others for what we have going here. Don't miss out! Tickets are just $10 for adults and free for students; they've available in advance at the bookstore or can be purchased at the door on concert nights.
I'm really thrilled to announce that we will have Bemidji author Will Weaver at Cherry Street Books on Thursday October 21st from 1 - 2:30. He will releasea new book, The Last Hunter, in mid-September, his first writing for adults in a long time. His novel, Red Earth, White Earth, was a favoriite of mine was back in the late 80's, but most of what he has written since then has been for young people. Weaver will speak at the ATC's Senior College later in the afternoon and at the Douglas County Public Library in the evening, but his visit in the store will allow you to meet him personally and chat in a more informal setting. We'll have his new book in as soon as it is available in September. Please mark the date and plan to be here!
Hoping to see you soon and often at Cherry Street Books,
Kathleen
